Aquatic Physical Therapy
While many injuries can be treated with hands-on therapy and a series of dry land exercises, some are best treated while working in the water. Even early in an injury, joint movement becomes possible because of water's natural ability to support the body and reduce stress to joints, making it possible to strengthen and tone muscles while an injury is healing. It can increase circulation, strength and endurance, range of motion and muscle tone.
Practiced in a heated pool of water, aquatic physical therapy can also be very beneficial in protecting joints during exercise and reducing stress.
Therapy House Calls
In an advanced technological environment that makes many more things possible today than even decades before, it's nice to know that some things never change. At Michigan Rehabilitation Specialists, we know that the time and care we take with patients who are unable to come to the office cannot to be replaced by any machine. That's why we offer to come to your home when necessary, combining modern day theory and practice with old-fashioned quality care and honorable service.
MRS House Calls is a division of Excel Rehabilitation Services, providing physical and occupational therapy in patients' homes, assisted living homes or extended care facilities as an alternative to traditional home care. Patients need not qualify as home-bound in order to receive these services, and PT/OT services can be ordered separately or together without nursing services.
On the Job Injuries
Michigan Rehabilitation Specialists has become a leader in providing occupational medicine rehabilitation. At each location, MRS provides convenient local physical therapy services for patients with work-related injuries who live and/or work in southeastern Michigan.
Sports Physical Therapy And Athletic Training
Many athletes benefit not only from physical therapy itself, but also from the increased strength and coordination that comes with proper training. At MRS, our staff includes certified athletic trainers who can both create a tailored program for your student athlete and provide him or her with the supportive physical therapy needed for peak performance.
Michigan Rehabilitation Specialists is honored to serve a number of high school athletics and community recreational programs with coordinated efforts by MRS certified athletic trainers.
